Xanthomonas campestris pv. vesciatoria (Xcv) is the causal agent of the bacterial spot disease on pepper and tomato. sRNAs are small, regulatory RNAs, which may influence target-mRNAs stability or translation. In the present study the sRNA sX13 was characterized i.a. secondary structure and functional domains were analyzed.. A comparative proteome study showed that accumulation of 142 proteins was regulated by sX13. The regulated proteins had very diverse functions, e. g. adaptation to various environmental conditions and type IV-pilus synthesis and only rarely virulence associated. In the second part, a proteogenomic approach for the refinement of the Xcv genome was performed. 126,995 peptides were mapped onto 2,581 protein-coding genes with 55% coverage, leading to re-annotation of 51 coding sequences and identification of 29 novel genes.
