The issue of this in vitro study was to prove the tubule closing effect of the arginine containing toothpaste Elmex sensitive professional® on cervical dentine disk with hydraulic conductance measurements in the modified Pashley model and taking SEM after treatment. According to manufacturer’s data, the effects of the multiple application, the rise of application time and an acid attack were examined. As negative control Colgate Cavity Protection® was used. The application of Elmex sens. prof.® showed significant flow reduction (p<0,01, Tukey test), the rise of application time on 2*4 seconds showed no significant increase of flow reduction in comparison to manufacturer’s data (p>0,05), the multiple application raised the flow reduction significantly (p<0,01), acid attack by Coca Cola® showed no significant reduction in flow (p>0,05) on the contrary the flow reduction further rose. The negative control Colgate Cavity Protection® showed no flow reduction after treatment according to Elmex sensitive professional® (p>0,05). All measured results were confirmed by SEM. The impact on cervical dentine disk of the arginine containing toothpaste was verified.
