The benign prostatic obstruction is the most common diagnosis in the male genitourinary system, which leads to 1,2 million surgical interventions worldwide. The aim of the dissertation was to compare the GreenlightTM photoselective vaporization of the prostate (140 patients) with the conventional transurethral resection of the prostate (217 patients), within clinical complications, surgery duration, duration time in the hospital and postoperative micturation parameters. Patients treated with the GreenlightTM photoselective vaporization of the prostate had a significant shorter stay in the hospital of 2,35 days and 3,7 days shorter under anticoagulation. Transfusion und re- surgery rate because of bleeding did not occur. Within the postoperative desobstructive results in both surgical procedure are equivalent.
