In earlier studies incidence of endogenous lectins was demonstrated in colonic mucosa, adenomas, carcinomas and their metastases. Neoglycoprotein binding to different stages of the colonic adenoma-carcinoma sequence was evaluated in 37 cases glycohistopathologically. Histologic sections were obtained from the Pathological Institut of the Martin-Luther-Universität Halle-Wittenberg. Specific neoglycoprotein binding to the different stages of the adenoma-carcinoma-sequence was found. Heterogeneity in binding of the 7 neoglycoproteins was seen in the different entities examined in this study. Binding variety might be an expression of varying cell differentiation within the adenoma-carcinoma-sequence. Today the used neoglycoproteins can not improve histopathologic routine-diagnostics of the colonic adenoma-carcinoma-sequence. |
