Because of the present reconstruction of the German educational system, the education of teachers has a particular role. As a result of specific examples for the urban ecological basic education in teacher studies for the Geography course, education standards were formulated, that ensure establishment of a basic level for beginning students. Such is necessary because the students have different backgrounds due to their varied knowledge. With the assistance of a model to develop understanding in steps, the standard of education can be split into different levels. The first step is to name key terms and eventually to reach to the presentation of the complex geoecological system called "City". Because not all students have had available knowledge on urban ecological basic education during their studies, in the second part of the thesis a learning programme is presented to achieve this ecological basic education as an independent study programme for the most important aspects of the requirements. This programme develops an educational path with an urban ecological topic for the city centre of Halle (Saale) in Germany with emphasis on geoecology. This educational path can be realised by a combination of different descriptive methods (tables, brochures, internet presentations) that open up different project possibilities based on sequential understanding of previous steps. |
